We’re delighted to be named a finalist in the ‘International Impact’ category of the prestigious Social Enterprise UK’s 2022 Awards. This recognises the impact we are having as a social enterprise, supporting our partners to strengthen primary care globally.
What is a social enterprise?
Social enterprises are businesses which trade for a social or environmental purpose. There are more than 100,000 social enterprises in the UK, contributing £60 billion to the economy and employing around two million people. Social enterprises demonstrate a better way to do business, one that prioritises benefit to people and planet and uses the majority of any profit to further their mission. Social enterprises contribute to reducing economic inequality, improving social justice and to environmental sustainability. Read more about what a social enterprise is.
Our Impact
Since 2014 we have reached nearly 7000 healthworkers in over 60 countries and 92% of healthworkers report concrete plans to change their practice after our training. In 2021 we launched our home for online learning: the PCI Academy. Last year over 4000 hours of online learning were completed, with 84 hours of live, interactive workshops, and there was an increase in learners’ knowledge gained by an average of 17 percentage points. This platform will enable our impact to be further scaled-up in the coming years. By 2025 we aim to reach 25,000 healthcare workers globally, caring for 7 million people.
