Management team

A small and committed team who ensure our strategic direction is translated into reality. They lead on the day-to day running of the organisation, and work alongside our clinical team to deliver impactful projects and partnerships.


  • Julia Beart, Chief Executive Officer

    Julia brings to PCI substantial experience of global health and development, with experience spanning programme design, partnership building, strategy and business development. Prior to joining PCI, Julia helped shape innovative approaches to scaling BasicNeeds’ award-winning Model for Mental Health and Development, and has a strong track record leading organisational growth across diverse settings. With a background in disability and community development in resource-poor settings, she has a particular interest in healthcare innovations with potential to reach vulnerable groups. She has a BA in French with International Studies and a MSc in Development Management.

  • Ros Kirkland, Head of Programmes

    Ros plays a central role in managing and developing the PCI project portfolio. She has a strong track record in strategy development, planning, programme management, working with partners and donors and monitoring and evaluation.  Prior to working at PCI Ros had substantial experience working on humanitarian and development projects in East Asia, South-East Asia and East Africa: working predominantly with the Red Cross Movement in field, headquarter and consultancy roles. She also worked with the Women’s Sport Trust in their operational team, promoting women’s sport.

  • Sara Dawson, Finance & Operations Manager

    Sara has a breadth of administration, project and management experience from many years of working both for IBM and subsequently herself, before joining PCI in May 2016.  Since then her role has evolved and she now has management responsibility for finance, infrastructure and internal policy development. In her private life, Sara is involved with a number of local community organizations and is a certified money coach for the national debt counselling charity Christians Against Poverty.

  • Jack Barton, Project Manager

    Jack supports projects across PCI. He also coordinates our technology development as we work towards enhancing our e-learning platform. Jack arrived at Primary Care International from Oxfam GB, where he worked as a Project Officer for the Cash Learning Partnership in their Global Humanitarian Department. Jack has lived and worked in Thailand where he was an Academic Advisor for a municipal school district in Bangkok. Jack holds a BA in International Development and is a Director of Grow Farmers Uganda.

  • Jane Lennon, Communications Manager

    Jane leads on external and internal communications work at PCI, including the website and social media; newsletters; and production of communications and promotional materials. She also leads on  PCI’s GP Update Global programme. Prior to joining PCI she had over fifteen years’ experience working for international non-governmental organisations with a particular focus on communications and knowledge management work. She most recently worked on a women’s economic empowerment project at ActionAid and a ‘Women and HIV’ project with Terrence Higgins Trust. Prior to that she worked for CAFOD as their HIV Advisor and HIV Knowledge Management Coordinator.
